SUMMARY:Dame School
DESCRIPTION:Children aged 8 years old and up are invited to join Prudence 
 Gray\,  owner of a dame school in Colonial America\, for lessons and 
 recess.   Children will experience learning a variety of subjects i.e.\, 
 geography\, weather\, recitation via hornbooks as well as lessons and 
 morals from Aesop Fables. Participants will learn how to write with a quill 
 pen and ink.  During recess\, the children will visit Mrs. Gray’s kitchen 
 to try cooking tools of the era and taste a colonial treat. Recess also 
 includes learning about and playing with colonial toys and games. 
 Registration is required. \n\nThis event has been developed with a donation 
 from the Jennifer Kane Scholarship and Charitable Trust. Each child who 
 attends will receive a free book related to American history or culture.
