Come join us on October 6th at 6pm in the Fehlow Room for a night of Johnny Cash - Songs and Stories!
Longtime New England musician/author Matt York will perform the songs of Johnny Cash and tell stories about Cash's career spanning from the 1950's to his passing in 2003. He'll discuss Cash's emergence as a groundbreaking artist in the 1950's, his marriage to June Carter and many of his other career highlights. In both 2022 and 2023, York was nominated for the Boston Music Award for Best Country Artist and his album Gently Used was named one of the Patriot Ledger's best albums of 2022.

In both 2022 and 2023 the Boston Music Awards have nominated Matt York as a "Best Country Artist" nominee. His music and story have been featured in the Boston Globe, NPR, Boston Herald and a boatload of other places. He has twice been nominated as "Best Male Artist" by the New England Awards and has received radio airplay and press coverage throughout the world.

In 2019, The Boston Globe named his release Bruisable Heart as one of their top albums.
 
York lives on the South Shore of Massachusetts and has traveled extensively through the years performing his own songs and also doing The Highwaymen Songs & Stories. York grew up in Foxboro, Massachusetts and began playing in the clubs of Boston as a teenager. Since then, he's played on stages throughout the United States and Canada. His three-piece indie band, Wide Iris, performed extensively from 1996-2000 performing at legendary rooms like CBGB, The Rat, and TT the Bears.
 
His last album, released in 2022, Gently Used, received praise from around the world. Americana UK wrote, "with its timeless songcraft, it's definitely an album to watch out for." Boston.com called it a "sad masterpiece." "Gently Used" was named one of the Albums of the Year by both Worcester Magazine and the Patriot Ledger. In 2023, York was included in PBS's "Ocean State Sessions" where he performed a few songs at the beautiful Narrows Center in Fall River, MA. 
 
York has opened for a slew of top artists including Rhett Miller of the Old 97's, Jim Lauderdale, John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band, The Motels, the Waco Brothers, Chris Knight, Summer Dean, Arlo McKinley and many, many others. His Highwaymen: Songs and Stories series has allowed him to play 500 concerts over the past few years traveling from Toronto to Nashville and several places in between. He recently completed a book about Willie Nelson that is available everywhere now. In 2022, he released the book, "The Highwaymen - Songs and Stories," which is also available now.
