"Forever Chemicals" -- How do they affect us? In-Person
Sharon, a Colorado-based climate reporter for The Hill, discusses her new book, Poisoning the Well: How Forever Chemicals Contaminated America (April 10), which received a starred review from Booklist.
In Poisoning the Well, we trace an ugly history of corporate greed, military impunity and community devastation, based on original reporting in four highly contaminated places. We introduce readers to people who, while fighting for their own lives, take action to fix a broken regulatory system. And we provide searing evidence as to how PFAS producers were aware of the deadly risks for decades while the government failed to protect its citizens.
Sharon has been reporting on water issues for 15 years. She received my BA from the University of Pennsylvania in 2007 and her MS from Columbia J-School in 2008. She was also selected for a Ted Scripps Fellowship in Environmental Journalism for the 2019-2020 academic year, earned a SEAL Environmental Journalism Award in 2023, and will be speaking at the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole.
