Gardening in Cedarville - Joy, Success and Disappointment

Gardening in Cedarville - Joy, Success and Disappointment In-Person

Want to know how to incorporate native plants into your existing gardens and eliminate invasives? This is the program for you!

Geri Williams, a member of the Plymouth Garden Club, moved to her current residence in Plymouth in fall of 2003. Her nearly ¾ acre property had only minimal foundation plants in front of the house and lots of bittersweet, poison ivy, greenbrier and Virginia creeper filling the trees on both sides. In the years since she and her husband have dug more than 2 dozen gardening beds, planted 15 trees, cleared the woods of invasives, and established a vegetable garden, blueberry, raspberry, and strawberry beds.

In the spring of 2021 in an effort to further reduce her lawn and to plant more native species, Geri and Don dug up another corner of their sunny front yard and an area in the backyard that was predominant shade. This slide program will document the progress of these two gardens that year and with some follow-up photos this year. There will be an emphasis on some of the native plants she used and their
success.
